Mechanical Love

Directed by

Starting from the idea of documenting the development of human emotions in interpersonal relationships, Ambo shifted her attention to the relationship between humans and robots. After seeing how therapeutic robots work, she was struck by the range of emotions they can arouse in patients. The stories told in the film show that within the human subconscious the barrier is crumbling between man and machine, between an organism capable of feelings and a mechanism: old Frau Körner fond of her mechanical seal; a Japanese professor who built an android in his like and tested it on his daughter to evaluate her reaction.
